A Checkpoint is an assignment that asks students to apply what they've learned more deeply. Depending on the course, a Checkpoint might be an essay, a short reflection, a problem set, or a video recording — the format fits the subject. In every case, a certified teacher is reading it, evaluating it against a rubric, and writing back to the student.
Here's how they work:
- Checkpoints appear in the student's Learning Path as they progress through a course
- Students must complete and submit the Checkpoint before moving forward
- Checkpoints are accessed and submitted through Google Classroom
- Teachers grade Checkpoints and send feedback through Google Classroom as well
Checkpoints make up 60% of a student's final grade, making them one of the most important parts of each course.
