Needs-based tuition assistance is available to families who pay tuition out of pocket. When you apply to MOHS, check the box that says you will be requesting tuition assistance and follow the instructions to provide the necessary documentation. Acceptable proof of income is listed below.
Please note that tuition assistance is not available to families using state funding programs, as those programs are designed to cover the full cost of tuition.
Applying
When you submit your MOHS application, you can apply for tuition assistance at the same time. You'll be asked a few questions about your household size and annual income and asked to provide proof of income.
Proof of income documentation
You'll need to submit one or more of the following to verify your income:
- Recent pay stubs
- Federal tax returns or W-2s
- State benefit award letters (showing benefit type and amount)
- Social Security or disability benefit statements
- Self-employment records or 1099 forms
If your situation doesn't fit neatly into one of these categories, please reach out — we'll work with you to figure out what documentation makes sense for your circumstances.
